Aysha E Arar, « Shahrazad / شهرزاد » (upcoming)

Sans titre is pleased to present Shahrazad / شهرزاد, Aysha E Arar’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, opening on October 17, 2026, ahead of Art Basel Paris.

Taking its title from the legendary storyteller of One Thousand and One Nights, the exhibition considers storytelling as a space of survival, freedom and transformation. Shahrazad, who tells stories night after night in order to remain alive, becomes a point of departure rather than a character to be illustrated, a figure through which E Arar continues her exploration of the power of imagination and of the voice.

Drawing from Palestinian tales and legends, personal memories and lived experience, E Arar creates a world where reality and fiction continually overlap. Human bodies mingle with birds, horses and imaginary creatures, identities remain fluid, and love, fear, violence and tenderness coexist. Through painting, poetry and storytelling, Shahrazad / شهرزاد imagines another space, one in which telling a story can itself become an act of freedom.
